Sipi Falls, Uganda - Single Origin ESPRESSO
Blackberry • Blueberry • Pineapple • Peach
Sipi Falls Coffee, named after the picturesque Sipi Falls in Eastern Uganda, is famous for its Bugisu Arabica coffee, the most renowned variety of Ugandan Arabicas. This coffee is organically certified and is the result of the Sipi Falls Coffee Project, which began in 1999. The project involves over 5,000 smallholder producers across more than 2,000 hectares and has indirect connections to approximately 3.5 million families.
Through the project, producers receive training and extension services aimed at improving agronomic practices, increasing yields, and enhancing quality. They also engage in intercropping with food crops and shade trees to boost both coffee quality and income diversity. Field officers offer guidance on climate change, best agricultural practices, internal control systems, water recycling, community education, and organic standards.
Sipi Falls Coffee is cultivated on the slopes of the Elgon mountain range in Mbale, Sironko, and Kapchorwa Districts, with altitudes ranging from 1,300 meters in the south to 1,900 meters in the central and northern districts. Coffee cultivation is a significant source of commercial income for smallholder farmers in Uganda and remains a cornerstone of the country's economy.
